98k sling

It's an Austrian Stg.58 postwar sling with an extra stud hole added and a fake WaA214 popped on it. The keeper (frosch) is postwar. These slings are longer (at 55" or so) than an original K98k and MP40 sling (both about 47"). Sorry, but I'm positive of this. Sportsman's Guide was selling these for about $9 each I believe. I've bought them for that and unissued condition ones in this shape for around $20. They make great slings for a shooter or reenactor and they are high quality, made in the 1960s. Most still bear the "Stolla Wien" maker oval and you can sometimes see where that has been removed.

BSW, it would have been used by the Austrian postwar army for whatever it would fit on with that button stud arrangement I reckon, which is about everything except and slotted K98k stock. I'm sure they used them on MP.40s as well. That is absolutely what that sling is. This one wasn't faked/modified for a K98k so good as they simply added a hole closer to the end. They can be cut to K98k length, trimmed on the end to a point and a hole added in the back and they are perfect size. Again, original Kar.98k and MP.40 slings are 120 cm = 47" and these are around 142 cm = about 55", measured from tip to buckle end.
Here is one that is painted/unissued. I've got a couple of these. I use them on my shooters. They are great high quality slings, just postwar, and I much prefer them to repros, which cost about the same.

This looks like an STG-58 sling with a yugo keeper. It will have two holes in the sling. Check the sling holes for uniformity if there's a third.

Looking at the adjuster pin on the buckle of the second sling I would have to say it's a $9 postwar Stg. sling too with, as stated, probably a Yugo keeper. Ask for better pics of what I suggested or tell him to send the bayonet back. The guy either a) doesn't know what an original German WW2 K98k sling looks like; or b) is jerking you around trying to get your bayonet for about $15.
