Jordan, it's a nice rifle and you don't see Wels depot rifles that often, in this case I wouldn't mind the mismatched bolt.

Looks very interesting, please show some more pics of your rifles. In particular the first one (serial number 2008) catch my attention, it's a Kriegsmarine depot rifle. I guess the receiver is coded "660 1940" with "G.29/40" at the siderail?

I could always find an armorers bolt for it as well someday. But the bolt does match the finish color been in there for a long time. By the way it's good to hear from you Stephan you're always welcome to email me or message me. Always good to hear from you, and I hope you're doing well.

Stephan, Here are some photos of the good. Unfortunately, the sporterizing had begun by removing the rear sight and drilled and tapped for lyman sight. Bands do not match, handguard is missing. Stock has no external markings, but is Steyr. Only marking is a small eagle 623 in the barrel channel, but no serial number. It was rescued from a small gun shop for the hefty sum of $140 before anymore damage could be done. I will at some point do the repairs as I feel this one is deserving of repair.

Seems like bubba always got to the rare ones! It really does amaze me of the amount of rare rifles I have seen touched by bubba over the years. Thank god the stock wasn't altered and the barrel cut down on this rare bird. But damn Ken, for $140 you can't go wrong with a rare k98k like this my friend.

You are right. It seems like Bubba has a disdain for common code, run of the mill rifles but rather gravitates to the rare or even ultra rare. Not sure if it's coincidence or some type of reverse natural selection?

Well I may try to give him a call tomorrow see if he will hold it for me for the next ogca show he's a good guy. I'll be honest I just don't know what it is about the depot guns they just have so much history to them. It's like you just kind of fall in love with them!

My RC rifle (only good for receiver and barrel markings) is a 1943 dated receiver SN 1751 - which is very close to your high serial number.)
Let me know if you wish details found on the receiver/barrel and I'll dig around and find the rifle.

Pictures would be nice. Wehrkreis XI had two depots: Hannover and Magdeburg. Yours is probably Magdeburg, but with pics we can probably tell which one did the build.
