Is there a list of manufactures in order of their rariety?

Mike Welser's book "Reichswehr and Wehrmacht Bayonets 1920-1945" provides a general list of rarity rankings. Although it's not all-inclusive, it can get you started. The book is relatively inexpensive and available directly from Mike. PM me if you want his mailing address. To delve further into the subject, George Wheeler's book is a must - "Seitengewehr: History of the German Bayonet 1919-1945".

Hello Gents,

is there also a chart with the production numbers of the Bayonets produced from 1934 to 1937?

Like in Volume IIb.

Kind regards

Cool. I found out who made my 43 asw and my S/184 G

What does the G signify on the S/184 G marked bayonet? Is that a date code?

Somewhere around here I have a box of WW2 German 98k bayonets, I'll have locate it and see who the manufacturers of them are.

K is the date code for 1934. G indicates 1935. These were the only date codes used with the S.84/98.

The pictured logo is a caligraphic letter M for Maschinenhaus.Similar designation was used on prewar M1895 production.

Can anyone identify this bayonet's markings?

Hi folks, I am Steve and I'm new to your site... I've made an introduction on the home page and this is my first post with you all...
I recently acquired some WWI-2 items and one of the items is an 84/98 bayonet. However, none of the marking that I'm seeing on the item match what I am seeing in any of the archive that I've been able access. Hopefully, someone here can share their knowledge and help to identify what I have here? Sorry for the fuzzy pics!84-98_pic-2.jpg

You have there a 43asw bayonet, as there is a 3127pp range and WaA519, You should look at opposite blade near crossguard, i asume there were wood grips. b.r.Andy

If anyone could help me out here, I’m kinda new to this I just ordered a K98 bayonet after doing some research it’s apparently in amazing condition and is a P. Weyersberg matching with scabbard stamped 39 for the year on the spine. However I kind of overlooked the codes. The shops description I’m buying it from states it’s proofed with 2 WaA256 Waffenamts on the pommel and a WaA253 waffenamt on the top of the grip frame, I looked up the codes with manufacturers and sure enough the 253 matches with the year it was produced by Weyersberg however I see no such thing as a WaA256 proof code even existing. I’m hoping this isn’t a reworked piece or anything I paid good for it and just want it to be all original. Maybe it’s possible they misread it? Do they even stamp the top of the grip frames? Any help would be appreciated. Sorry no pics yet I haven’t even received it yet. Just something I noticed in my research. Thanks
