I was just given an April 1940+ Gustloff KKW!!

A good decision is, take the existing (front) action screw to the hardware store with me, and match it there by screwing nuts onto it. Then, once I've confirmed the size and pitch, finding the machine screw the will work. Probably it will be a l8ng one that will need to be cut off.
Act, a friend dude from RFC has just directed me to a plthe has these action screws in stock!
Good night! Talk at yall inda morn.

Indeed! Screws are in the mail, and a new bolt body with intact unobtainium extractor is also on the way! I just might be at the range with this old trainer within a week or two! Next week's work is looming as fairly intense so that may cause deferral of fun plans....

Congrats, You were extremely fortunate to find an extractor. Give us a report on how it goes. I've never seen one that wasn't a tack driver. (y)

I can’t find them on the website. Looked through it , no luck finding a listing and can’t find a search box on the site either..

I'm not sure how developed their website is, their paper books are the size of a Manhattan phone directory. I generally just speak to one of their girls on the phone.

Captain Obvious here. I, uh, didn't notice in the flush of the moment but my new KKW is missing its handguard! Word on the street is that a K98 one will fit it. Can anyone verify?
I spent some time with it today. Cleaned the stainless fore end and bayonet lug, dropped the cartridge guide out and cleaned it, and took a swipe inside the receiver. Got the bolt apart, waiting on the new bolt body with extractor. Cleaned gunky Cosmolene off the barrel bands. The rifle is looking pretty good! I hope to get a bunch of progress Pix posted tomorrow, but my work I think I mentioned is going to be intense next week.
Anyway! I am so juiced about this thing! Even my family is saying stuff like, are you sure you have all the stuff you need to bring it back? Wonderful!
It's going to take me at least 16 more hours to get it cleaned to where it needs to be.
Signing off now. If anyone has info about the handguard, PLEASE let me know!!

A K98k hand guard will not fit a KKW without some a work. The outside dimensions are the same for each but the channel for the barrel on the K98k hand guard is too small to fit onto a KKW barrel. If you open up the channel to accommodate the larger barrel, you will be all set.

Peter S., thank you! A buddy of mine from here just sent me a photo post you made saying, and showing, this! I'm on the hunt now. Being a fur to middlin woodworker, I got the stuff to do this well.
I'm new at this. Any tips on finding? I got a few sites bookmarked, and know about class ads here and RFC.

Huh! Liberty Tree Collectors has new K98 handguards for twenty six bucks! I'm thinking, that'll do! Slap I little oil on it and let 'er rip!

Found the J.F. Three volume set of his parts catalog a few years back at a collector show for $10. so snapped them up. The catalog only shows the parts pictured, but lists all the other components. This is listed in Vol 2 #708 MAS 45 .22 BA Rifle on page 329. Extractor would be #14...
