NEW! Item 587 M42 Single decal Luftwaffe camouflage helmet

NEW! Item 587 M42 Single decal Luftwaffe camouflage helmet (the snow-turtle)

http://www.germanhelmetsinc.com/helmetssale.htm

An NS 62 M42 single decal helmet. This is a fairly unorthodox camouflage pattern made by the application of ovals and lozenge shaped panels of white paint which was mixed with a plaster-like substance. There is considerable wear at the top of the helmet but still it displays well from all horizontal angles. The eagle decal is a textbook NS style which is placed concentrically on the helmet instead of the often encountered NS factory mis-application which places the decal closer to the vent hole. The liner and strap show only light wear. This helmet fairly stands out on any collection shelf. $1650.00

From the lack of white camo on the rivets and white camo paint behind the rivets, it appears that the liner was out of this helmet when the camo was applied. The wear to the crown seems odd, not a natural wear pattern. It is always a nice touch to see a bit of camo paint on the chinstrap :|

"Fairly unorthodox" is right. This scheme resembles the tortoise shell style used in Italy using tan camo paint.

It appears that when the paint was still tacky, something was placed against the paint that pulled some of it off. The untouched areas remain pearl-white. IMO, period, 70 year old white paint should no longer be pearl white.

looks like a REX repaint. TO ALL, STUDY THIS HELMET CAREFULLY....SEE WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE. SEE THE WEAR PATTERNS AND THE INTERIOR...

Winter Camo

I have a few thoughts about "white painted" helmets as opposed to whitewashed helmets. The white paint is permanent. If you were on the front lines, a change of weather could mean a white helmet was the kiss of death. Good luck getting it repainted. White painted helmets with a smooth finish (mostly without the red stripes) were worn by medics. (you weren't supposed to shoot at medics) If whitewash wasn't readily available, a piece of old bed sheet, undershirt or skivvies and a piece of wire or string. would be a better choice.

great post. Welcome ! there is a lot more footage with guys with sheet and doilies even on their lids.. White wash was made to be removed.. White paint not so much. There are probably 1000 medic helmets now for sale than every 1 real one that was used in the war...

Thank you. I'm trying to get up to speed. This is a great website. Others not so much. I went through all of the previous threads about helmets and am getting a good education!

Reproduction WW2 German M42 Steel Helmet Stahlhelm Hand Painted Splinter Camo

Reproduction WW2 German M42 Steel Helmet Stahlhelm Hand Painted Splinter Camo
Ebay item# 231636075542

For auction is reproduction WW2 German M42 helmet with unique hand applied splinter camo colour scheme. My friend copied this from an original helmet. Field-applied camo like this is rare, but was occasionally done. Helmet is reproduction from a smaller vendor, that he not remember. Painted over name of former wearer and some scratches in the paint. Rivets and liner are not 100% correct, but passable. Shell is well-made, although slightly heavier than most originals. Size is about 59 or 60 liner. Included are several photos of the original, that he copied it from almost 1:1. Would make interesting and unique addition to display or reenactment!

The 'original' is featured in post #69 has a reproduction liner string, liner and ink stamp.

IMO copies of copies. We were warned about this, that reproductions would 'take on an authenticity all of their own'.

Para Normandy Camo

http://www.italianwarfront.com/index.php/nggallery/page/1?page_id=9

German war world two outstanding camouflage Fallschirmjäger helmet KIA.
If you don’t have a 10K + for a complete one this is your best opportunity to own a great FJ camo for a fair price.
Shell stamp is right under the band and could be a ckl 68 or 66.
Leather ( what’s left ) shows sign of blood and strap ( some camo paint on ) have been cut probably by a US GI taking his war trophy right from the combat field.
I believe this was a tan camo later one spray painted over with the so called ” Normandy camo ” paintjob
A real beauty with a great camouflage !

$6,000

Where to start on this one? Unrealistic wear patterns, some areas in pristine condition although heavy rim wear, fine micro-spatter in detail photos likely caused by a spray paint can (not available in the field 70 years ago) liner shot (heavily worn helmets are excellent candidates for 'restoration'.)

One thing I do like about this one is the over-spray on the chinstrap. That is a nice touch.

WWII M40 SE62 German Wehrmacht Camo Helmet Grouping w/Veteran Provenance
Item: H223 Everything you see here is a recent “Woodwork” find from the Veteran’s son in law near Altoona, Pennsylvania. His father in law was in the 82nd Airborne. Lt. Conrad Michielson took part in the landings on North Africa, Sicily & Italy. The camouflage of the M40 would indicate usage in that terrain of the Mediterranean. Selling the entire lot. M40 German camo helmet, Luftschutz helmet, NSDAP pennant approx 6 feet in length and the Iron Cross 2nd class w/ribbon. Included is a testimony from Larry Lochner (son in law) and photos of Mr. Michielson during the ETO.

Price: $4000 (grouping)

http://gwh.rockbridgeservic.netdna-...08/WWII-M40-SE62-German-Camo-Helmets-H223.jpg

Well distributed minor wear which is unnatural, IMO. Fine micro spatter indicative of modern spray paint can, fresh red rust, certain areas apparently untouched by wear, yet other areas have severe dings down to bear metal (disparity of wear). Wear on crown is unconvincing; it should show much more intense and varied wear than it does. Most of the wear appears to show paint popped off with hard breaks, not worn off.

NEW! Item 598 M40 Kriegsmarine camouflage helmet

NEW! Item 598 M40 Kriegsmarine camouflage helmet

http://www.germanhelmetsinc.com/helmetssale.htm

This is a Q66 KM helmet from the Quist 1941 contract. (I believe it is the only contract that Quist ever had for producing Kriegsmarine helmets) One can see very slight portions of the decal showing through the three-color brushed camouflage. The green-ish hue to the detail lines and the fragmentary portions of gold color indicate the decal to be a KM. It is assumed that it is the Quist style single layer construction type which is found on other M40 Quist KM helmets. The feature that verifies this as a Kriegsmarine helmet is the man's name written onto the liner. (BTW; the liner is in my opinion; unquestionably original to the helmet) The sailor's is accompanied by his stammrolle number which is without question a Naval stammrolle number. The brushed camouflage remains 95% intact. The colors are vivid and show striking contrast. I have never seen a KM camo of this quality, appearance and unique-ness. ON HOLD

Analysis: The remnants of a KM decal can be seen in photo2, meaning that the decal was shot before the camo was applied. Not an impossible scenario, but remember that helmets with heavily worn components are excellent candidates for 'upgrades'. Also notice photo2 reveals the fine details of the camo texture, areas that show no wear whatsoever that would normally be the first details to be worn away with use. Hard breaks to the paint in some areas (popped off) but other areas seem to have been painted around. Repetitive heavy rub marks to the crown amidst pristine paint. Heavy rim wear as usual. Colors are vivid, not faded over 7 decades.

German WW2 Camo Camouflage helmet sawdust / sand normandy type RARE !

German WW2 Camo Camouflage helmet sawdust / sand normandy type RARE ! READ INFO
3 Tone Stahlhelm Fallschirmjäger Felddivision WK2 RARE

EBAY: 252050844164

For sale:
A German M40 3 Tone normandy style camo helmet.
Recently bought locally in south part of Holland.
Helmet has a rough camo texture with a sawdust and sand type of mixture.
A lot of chipping is seen (see detail pictures). Nice wear patterns along the edges.
The places where the camo paint chipped away a grey / green / bleuish underlayer is visible ( Luftwaffe Felddivision ? )
Also, it has a few dents on wich the paint is gone and rusted out.
The top of the helmet is very smooth but not worn through ( camo layer is real thick ! )
It seems to have some moisture dripping op top and on the side of it, white strips running down the side. ( storage )

The inside of the helmet is nice however the leather liner is gone. Only the aluminium liner band is still attached to the helmet.
The stamping of the shell is very shallow, i can make out a 64. The place where the numbers are stamped is sanded out a long time ago i'm afraid.
There are a few small spots of camo visible on the inside that are rusted through.

The inside shows fly rust and a small amount of green blue factory paint remaining.
I have to add that I cleaned the inside and the edge just a tiny little bit with piece of fine 'steelwool' cloth and the air compressor, it had al kinds of nasty things inside.

The helmet will be sold as is and with a no return policy. The bidding will start at 1 dollar and be sold to the highest bidder.
No buy it now or other fancy stuff. A fair auction is all it will be :)

Questions or more pictures ? I'm more then willing to share them with you.

Worldwide registerd shipping.

Normandy 3 Color Brushed Camouflage M40

http://www.ww2germansteel.com/conte...ushed-camouflage-m40-single-decal-heer-helmet

Price: $3,615.00

This is another stunning camouflage M40 which is named to a Uffz. Euchler. There were only 19 soldiers with the last name of Euchler in the Volksbund database so there may be some research potential on this one. The shell is a model M40 manufactured by ET in size 64; the lot number of the rear skirt is 5179 making this an earlier production M40. Inside, the helmet is complete with its original leather liner and chinstrap. Both of these have been treated which was not an uncommon thing for old time collectors to do. The split pins and rivets are tightly in place on the 1940 dated liner system. On the exterior the shell has been very nicely camoed in the 3 color Normandy pattern. This camo has a tan base with brush applied red and green highlights; the decal appears to have been masked off. The helmet shows definitely saw some action and has a very nice combat patina to it. Overall, this is just a really beautiful camo helmet.

Another excellent original example, IMO.

Looks like an uncovered decal. That was a popular form of idiot collector vandalism back in the 70s and 80s. Back then, a decal was the hot thing, not an ugly old camo or wire helmet.

German WW2 M40 Camo Helmet From The Battle Of Monte Cassino. Vet Bring Back.

EBAY: 161789195297
Current bid:
US $2,016.00 SOLD

This a vet bring back from the battle of Monte Cassino province of Frosinone Italy. 100% Original german M40 mustard yellow spray camo paint. This helmet was purchased from the family of Dick Laws who fought with the fifth Army January 1944. He was wounded by a german grenade and was sent home after gangrene set into his left leg. He also was one of the first to fight in Africa. This helmet I am offering is a M40 Q manufacture late 43 made, well after the Africa corp fell. Spray mustard camo paint is 95% showing minor chips and scratches. Leather liner is complete but is dry and show cracking to the leather. Chin strap has the Buckle end but the long end is missing a quarter of the tip of the strap. Pictures tell all. Over all this is a fine example of a Italian campaign era historical battle helmet. I offer a three day inspection with full refund if not satisfied. Please check out my feed back and you will see you can bid with confidence. Overseas bidders are welcome but should email for postage rates. Thanks for looking!

Ww2 wwii german m40 normandy camo helmet shell - size 66

WW2 WWII GERMAN M40 NORMANDY CAMO HELMET SHELL - SIZE 66

REX-39 CAMO RESTORATION

This is a WW2 German M40 helmet shell. No liner and no decals. The helmet has tan camo paint with brown and green accents applied over feldgrau. The interior is feldgrau. The surface shows wear with numerous scratches and paint chips. There's a small bullet-sized "ding" on the right temple - barely noticeable but there. Shell size is 66 cm. Lot number and maker's mark stamped in the rear of the shell are barely visible, but I believe it to be a Quist. Please scroll down to the pictures, then return to the item description.

This is an authentic WW2 manufactured German helmet, but the painting and aging are newly done. The techniques used on this helmet have taken years to perfect and the results are incredible. This helmet looks absolutely dead-on real whether viewed from across the room, in-hand, or even under a magnifying glass. I guarantee this helmet to be one of the finest repaints available anywhere. Here's your opportunity to own what appears to be a real Normandy camo helmet shell at a fraction of the cost. Also included are a set of washers and split pins that have been painted to match.

To prevent resale of my work as original, the interior is marked as a repaint. The marking will not be visible with a liner installed.

US $450.00

This replica demonstrates definitively IMO that camos can no longer be judged by appearances alone (as they were early in the collecting era prior to fake proliferation). That is why 'gut feelings', 'good feelings', COA paperwork, congered Vet association, big-name collector/dealer association and forum approval are not valid means to determine authenticity.
