The safety system is very simple. You may have a broken plunger or if the safety lever was replaced, the grooves might be too ridged and not fitted properly to seat the plunger. Take few photos of your rig and maybe we can see what is going on.

That is not a crack but a seam from the stamping process. Perfectly fine to shoot. And that is not the bolt. That is the action cover.

Salvageable? Yes but.....There is a lot of correction to be made to that one. Replacing that barrel and rebuilding the rear sight is the hug task right there and I have done both but its a long process. If you send it out to someone to do then you are going to spend what it would cost to just...

Dont not use the combination on the right. Shim what ever set up you do to have zero gap or close to it. You want there to be as little as possible backward movement when engaging the rod assembly into the bolt carrier. IF you have too much play, you can start to mushroom the rod and or crack...

Putting a pop rivet on the gas piston is like duct taping the seats on a classic car. Sure it will work but why go half assed on a classic when you can do it right??

Could the front site have been changed at some point? Bore sight it at 25 yards but 1.5 inch low. That should have you close to on the mark at 100 yards.

I got my shipment of oversized late war front sight bases from Frontline today. They did an excellent job and they fit really well.

It will not have the pin. Some sizing does vary so you will have to try a few different ones.

Exactly. Some states only allow for a 5 round capacity magazine for hunting purposes.

The MG13 magazine doesnt always feed properly in a G/K43 at least the ones that I have seen that have been modified to work. I dont see any way it could damage the rifle unless you pulled a Bubba and altered the rifle in some way.

As little play as possible. Your rod will take a beating eventually (not to mention the carrier) from slamming if there is too much play. A little play is OK but its best to get it as close as possible.
