Looking for information on three 'sniper' rifles. What am I looking at here?

Yes, he's very good, especially with old stuff as he's an ex-British Army trained armourer, that worked on the L42 sniper rifles. He has a long wait list though. I had to wait about 9 months after contacting him to get my rifle into him, and then it was about a 5 month wait to get it back. Was...

Looking for information on three 'sniper' rifles. What am I looking at here?

Both Highwood and Devizes have both also had very expensive faked scoped K98k's for sale on their websites in recent years, both being claimed as genuine. The one Highwood were advertising was discussed on here at length. That's not to say both are dodgy, but just not K98k experts. Both were...

    Mauser Berlin 243 code Kriegsmarine

Very nice. I have a KM marked 243-1940 on a high serial g block number, but sadly no markings on the take-down disc.

What on earth is going on with the K98k?

There's an antique arms fair coming up in UK where this dealer sometimes has a table at, so if he's there it will be interesting to see if he has it with him, probably not if its true he's just listing it for someone, but I suspect that's not entirely true, as this dealer is well know for a bit...

What on earth is going on with the K98k?

This isn't a live auction, but a dealer sale (in fact a dealer advertising a K98 for sale rather than his stock, supposedly <cough>) so appologies if this breaks rules and needs deleting, but if this is the utter humped turd I suspect it is, then I hope a potential buyer might do due dilligence...

    Matching Luftwaffe 1940 Norwegian Mauser

Odd, the KNM number is missing the . between the KNM and is missing the Nr as well......? The one posted by mos has the Nr and dots, as does mine, see attached. Mine is also a 1940, and happens to be a double Navy issue rifle, as it was originally a Kriegsmarine issue before being selected for...

    BYF 42 Saving private Ryan

Are you more interested in this rifle because of the SPR backstory, or are you more interested in trying to find a non-RC de-act K98k? If you are more interested in finding a non-RC K98k, I do know of a UK dealer that has two de-act K98k currently for sale that do not appear to have RC markings...

    BYF 42 Saving private Ryan

90% of K98k's that are currently for sale in UK might be RC's, but there were lots of K98k's sold in UK (both live and de-act) prior to the RC's first arriving in the UK in the late 90's. An old mate of mine, Lee Money of FNG Supplies worked on set of SPR at Hatfield as extra as well as suppling...

    Norwegian Kar98 Navy 43

Mine is also a double Naval issue, as the stock is M marked, so it was originally a Kriegsmarine issue rifle. I bet there weren't many that were double Naval issue.

    Norwegian Kar98 Navy 43

Always nice to see other Norwegian Navy Surrender K98k's, I have this one, a 243 1940. Mines a bolt MM though, as well as having a butt plate change as well. everything else is matching.

Help With 1940 237 Army Or Navy?

Sorry, I meant to write 243 1940 g block, with a M stock and unmarked butt disc... but the OP writing 237 added to the fact my other K98k I own is a 237 oft leads to confusion in my old age :giggle:

Help With 1940 237 Army Or Navy?

Interesting. Were there any KM accepted rifle that were diverted to the Heer? I have a 237 1940 g block rifle that is M marked on the stock, but has an unmarked take-down disc. The rifle ended up in Norway at some point, and was a surrender weapon at end of WW2, and went into the Norwegian Navy...

Sniper clone, which rifle to pick and what setup to build?

Which one out of the Erma and BLM shoots better? Which ever one groups best in a test fire, that's the one I'd pick, which is after all how they chose rifles at the factory for sniper conversion.

    Action smoother than another rifle

My RC 1936 S/237 has a smoother action than my Norwegian surrender and ex-Norwegian Navy 1940 243 (so still original 7.92x57) and both are bolt M/M.

    IRA with G43?

Most of the post 1970 shipments that came in to NI via Southampton on QE2 etc. were AR-15 and more modern stuff, which was largely to replace all the older WW2 era stuff they had in arms dump from pre-WW2 days, or the WW2 era stuff they had acquired in the 1950's via an Irish-American who's name...
